Experience an Authentic Story Woven in the Heart of Speyside with a Pre-booked guided tour with one of our specialist tour guides.
First listed as the 'Wauk Mill' in parish records from 1784, uncover the history of the Woolmill with one of our expert volunteer guides. During the tour, you will also learn about our unique collection of Victorian machinery including our 1899 Dobcross loom.

THE MILL
Knockando Woolmill stands as a testament to Scotland’s rich textile heritage, with a history dating back over two centuries. Nestled in the picturesque Spey Valley, this historic site has been a hub of wool production since 1784. The traditional methods and craftmanship employed at the Mill have been carefully preserved through generations, offering visitors a glimpse of the past glory of the Scottish weaving industry.
THE GARDENS
Brimming with vibrant colour and fragrant blooms, the gardens at Knockando Woolmill are a sight to behold. Lush greenery surrounds the Mill and the babbling of the nearby Knockando burn creates a serene atmosphere for you to enjoy. Re-designed by BBC2’s Beechgrove Garden, the garden is maintained by an enthusiastic team of volunteers.
THE VISITOR CENTRE
The Woolmill shop at Knockando offers a delightful shopping experience for visitors looking to take home a piece of traditional Scottish craftsmanship. The shop showcases a wide range of high-quality wool products, including throws, scarves and smaller tweed items. Whether looking for a special souvenir or a practical item to cherish, the Woolmill shop provides an opportunity to support local artisans while indulging in the rich heritage of Scottish textiles.

We require 3 days notice for bookings.
